Searching for people by name
Each email address in our directory has the name of the owner associated with it. You may search by the owner's first name and last name. For security reasons, we require that you type in a name or partial name in each of these fields. If you search using a partial name in either field, the query will match any names that include that person's name. For example, if you type "William" into the last name field the search will match last names like "Williams" and "Williamson".
The search will return all names and email addresses in our directory that match your search criteria. However, if you get a match to the name you searched for, the person you are looking for won't necessarily be contained within those results, neither will they necessarily be at the top of the list. For these reasons, it is useful to narrow your search (see below). | Searching for people by other information
Our directory also contains more information than simply a name for many of our email addresses. You can also search by location, title, or other information that has been affiliated with that email address. This information can be very useful for finding the person you are looking for quickly and easily. If you know more about the person you are looking for than their name, use the other fields to narrow your search. We do not allow users to search only by location or other information for the safety of those in our directory.
Not all entries in our directory contain other information about the user, some contain only a name and email address. If for this reason you can't find the person you are looking for, you may want to contact an address that you think may be the person, or try other resources. | Reverse email lookup
If you have found the email of a person and wish to know more about that person, you can use our Reverse Lookup to see if that person is in our directory. Simply type the email address into the search field, and the search will return any information in our directory regarding that email address (name, location, other email addresses owned by the same person, etc.). For safety reasons, we only allow our users to search for exact matches of email addresses, no partial matches will be returned. | Getting better results
Sometimes a search may yield too many results or no results at all. Here are some tips to help you find the person you are looking for and only that person:
No Results:
Try entering less information into your search (leave out the city, occupation, etc.)
Enter only the first initial of the name you are searching for (J instead of John)
Too many results:If you know more information about the person (such as location), enter it in your search
Do not use first or last initials for the first or last name
If you know the domain name of the person's address (ex. "hotmail.com"), look for results with that domain. | Contacting an unknown address
Although a person may match your search criteria, that person may not be the one you are looking for. For this reason, it is usually unwise to contact a person simply because they matched your search terms. For example, if you search for "John Smith" and your search returns five thousand results, the chance of any single person in those results being the one you are looking for are very slim.
However, it sometimes may be useful to contact an unknown person if you think there is a good chance they may be the person you are looking for. Only try this method, though, if you have exhausted all other options and information about the person and your search contains very few results (ex. less than five). | Can't find a person here?
Although we have the world's largest email directory and database, it is still very possible that you can't find the person you are looking for here, whether they are in our directory or not. If this is the case, there are other methods and sources you can turn to in order to find the person you are looking for. We have put together a directory of links to email directories and services similar to ours. Using the many search engines using the same search terms you have used here may also be a useful way of finding email addresses. |
